Research Division of Earthquake Disasters, Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University

This division has four sections combining seismology and earthquake engineering. Our research is conducted by integrating scientific and engineering approaches to solve issues related to earthquake disasters, such as earthquake sites, source faults, earthquake generation, propagation of seismic waves, generation of strong ground motions, dynamic properties of ground and structural foundations, seismic response of structures, seismic countermeasures and monitoring, and earthquake-resistant design and construction. The goal of our research is to contribute to the safety and security of the society through earthquake disaster mitigation.
