Noto Peninsula Earthquake
On March 25, 2007 there was a damaging earthquake (Mw6.7) in the Noto Peninsula
area of central Japan. The earthquake was a shallow reverse fault with
an offshore hypocenter, but most of the distribution of aftershocks was
onshore. There was considerable damage to wooden structures in the Monzen,
Anamizu, and Wajima areas. We visited the area of the earthquake on April
6 to 8 and carried out a survey of the damaged buildings in the Monzen
region.
